Logging a set in Alpha Lifts: the Incline Press screen, chest and dumbbell, exercise one of seven, with the app saying to push for five pounds more today because every set hit target last time at 85 lb for 12 reps, so try 90 lb.

Where your $5 goes

$2AI coach

Model inference: what it costs to run a month of coaching conversations.

$1Store & fees

The cut Google Play takes on every subscription.

$2What’s next

New features, fixes, and keeping the servers running for everyone.

Rough numbers, and they’ll shift as we grow. The tracker stays free either way.

Everything else stays free: your programs, workouts, history, and progress. That is a term of service, not a slogan: read the clause.

From install to first set

Answer a few questions

Experience, goal, days a week, and your gym. Be honest: consistency beats ambition.

Get a plan made for you

A split with the right exercises, sets, and reps, ready to train from day one.

Train, log, progress

Hit your targets and the weights climb on their own. Watch your numbers do the talking.

New to lifting? You don’t have to know what a split is. Feature by feature: everything the free tracker includes, or what the $5 coach adds.

Built for people who take training seriously.

Not a habit tracker with dumbbells bolted on. Alpha Lifts handles the parts a lifter cares about: programming, progression, and reading your own numbers.

Tell it about you. It builds the plan.

Answer a few honest questions: experience, goal, days a week, where you train. What comes back is a full program built for you.

  • Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower, Full Body and more, matched to your week across five training styles.
  • Prefer a classic? Start StrongLifts 5×5, Starting Strength, or GZCLP in one tap.
  • Only barbells and a rack? Full commercial gym? The plan is built around the equipment you have.
A built Upper/Lower program in week 13, set to progressive overload, with every training day for the week and which ones are done.

Logging that keeps up

Everything you’d do under the bar, without fighting the app for it: reps-in-reserve, supersets and circuits, drop sets and AMRAP.

  • A rest timer that scales with how hard the set was, and buzzes you even with the app in your pocket.
  • Automatic progressive overload: hit your target and the weight goes up next time. Plate math and warm-up ramps included.
Logging a set in Alpha Lifts: a warm-up ramp of 40 lb for 8 and 60 lb for 5 before the first hard set, then the working set row with weight and rep steppers at 90 lb and 12 reps against a target of 10 to 12, and a reps-in-reserve picker under it.

172 exercises, filmed and checked

Every one photographed, written up, and filmed.

  • A reference photo, a written how-to, and a muscle diagram for every movement.
  • An individually verified tutorial video on each one, hand-checked, never a search link.
  • Search by name, muscle, or equipment. Type “row” and find every variation.

And what you get back.

Logging is only worth doing if something reads it back. This is the half that does.

Progress you can actually read.

The app does the analysis and tells you what moved, so you never need a spreadsheet.

  • Auto insights: your top lift this month, your fastest-rising muscle, PRs in the last 30 days.
  • An anatomical body map that shades exactly what each session worked.
  • Strength standards for every level.
  • A PR timeline that remembers every one.
  • Body weight and measurements on their own tab, with the trend over time.
The Progress tab in Alpha Lifts, showing strength standards: bench press 260 lb at 1.37 times bodyweight and squat 370 lb at 1.95 times bodyweight, both rated Intermediate, each with the weight the next band starts at.

Further down the same screen: back squat +40 lb since 30 June, 275 to 315, and 6 PRs in the last 30 days.

The coach can rewrite your plan.

It reads your program and your history. Ask it anything, or ask it to change something, and it will. This is the one paid part of Alpha Lifts, at $5 a month.

  • Get your lifts, form, and recovery explained in plain terms.
  • Add, swap, or build a whole plan just by asking. It proposes; you tap Apply.
  • A proactive weekly check-in that reviews the week you just finished.

Learn about the AI coach →

The Alpha Lifts coach asked to add a chest movement to the Heavy Upper day, answering that a Dip brings chest volume up and also works the triceps, then offering the change as a proposal with Apply and Dismiss buttons.

Also in the app

Opt-in periodization with build, peak and deload weeks. Two-way Health Connect sync and live cardio sessions. Backup, cross-device sync, and CSV export whenever you want your data out. Body weight and measurement tracking on its own tab. Progress photos, which stay on your device: they are not included in backups or cloud sync, and they never reach our servers. And nutrition check-ins, logged beside the training they belong to. The full list is on the free tracker page, free and paid side by side.

We got tired of paywalls.

We just wanted a good, simple app to track our lifting. Every one we tried hid the basics behind a subscription. Your program, your history, the numbers that tell you whether you’re getting stronger. All of it locked up.

That felt backwards to us, so we made the opposite. The whole tracker is free, and it stays free. It’s easy to pick up, with real depth once you want it. The only thing we charge for is the AI coach, because it’s the one part that costs us money to run.

Tell us what it should do

You cannot install it yet, but you can still shape what it does. If something you rely on is missing, or something about how other trackers work has always annoyed you, send it to feedback@alpha-lifts.com. We read every message, and plenty of what is in the app today started as a note from one of the lifters testing it before launch.

Straight answers.

Is Alpha Lifts free?
Yes. The whole tracker is free: programs, unlimited logging and history, the exercise library, and all the progress analytics. The only paid part is the optional AI coach at $5 a month.
When does it launch?
We haven’t announced a date, and we’d rather not invent one. The build works: every screenshot on this site was taken from it on 7 and 8 September 2026, and the lifters testing it before launch are using it now. Pre-register and you will get one email the day it opens.
What platforms does it run on?
Android, and any modern browser as an installable web app you can add to your home screen. A native iOS app is on the roadmap.
Is my training data private?
Your training data lives on your device and only syncs to our server when you sign in. The app carries no ads and no third-party trackers, and your data is never sold. This website uses cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) and nothing else. Read the privacy policy.
What exactly is the AI coach?
A chat coach that knows your program and history. Ask about your lifts, form, and recovery, or ask it to change your plan. It proposes the change (add an exercise, swap one out, build a whole program) and you apply it with one tap. It’s $5 a month; everything else stays free.
Do I need a full gym?
No. Whether you train at a full gym, at home, or with minimal equipment, the plan is built around the gear you actually have.
