A genuinely free workout tracker.
Not a free trial.

It builds your plan, logs every set, and reads your progress back to you. None of that is a trial, a teaser, or a capped version. The only paid thing is an optional AI coach at $5 a month.

One email when we launch, and nothing before it. Android, and installable from any modern browser. A native iOS app is on the roadmap, not shipped. How we handle it.

Every feature, free or paid, line by line →

Free, permanently

  • The plan builder, the proven programs and progressive overload
  • Unlimited logging and your full history
  • 172 exercises, filmed and checked
  • Progress analytics, the body map and strength standards
  • Body weight and measurements, progress photos, nutrition check-ins
  • Periodization, cloud sync, backup, CSV export

$5 a month

  • The AI coach, if you want one

That split is written down, not just advertised: the free side is a term of service.

What “free” actually means here.

Plenty of workout apps cost nothing to download, then move the parts you actually rely on (your full history, real progress charts, programs) into a subscription. Alpha Lifts is the opposite, and it is written down: our terms commit to keeping every feature that is free today free permanently, for everyone, and put that clause beyond the reach of the section that lets us change the terms.

A training day in Alpha Lifts: weekly set counts for back, biceps, rear delts, chest, triceps and shoulders, and a notice that six of them are below the weekly set range for this plan, even counting the other training days.
Weekly set volume per muscle, and the app telling its own user that six groups are under range. Captured from the working Android build on 7 September 2026.

Everything that’s free. And the one thing that isn’t.

Most trackers give the basics away and charge for the parts you come to rely on. Here is the whole of the difference: three things the $5 coach adds, and nothing else behind it.

Chat that reads your program

It has your plan, your history and your numbers in front of it, so the answer is about your training rather than training in general.

Plan changes just by asking

It proposes a concrete change to the program, and you apply it in one tap. Nothing happens to your plan unless you say so.

A proactive weekly check-in

It looks at the week you just trained and tells you what moved, what stalled and what it would change.

Three things, and nothing else behind a paywall: what the coach actually does.

Looking for a free alternative to a paid app?

Weighing Alpha Lifts against Strong, Hevy or Jefit? Their tier limits change often, so check each one’s current plan rather than trusting anyone else’s summary of it. What we can be exact about is ours: every feature, free or paid, line by line, a written commitment that it stays that way, and what moving over involves.

Your history

Importing workouts from another app is on our roadmap, not in the launch build, so your history here starts with the first session you log.

Your programs

StrongLifts 5×5, Starting Strength and GZCLP start in one tap. Or answer a few questions and get a plan built around your week and the equipment you have.

Your data

Logging works without a signal, and your training data syncs only when you sign in. The app has no ads and no third-party trackers, and your data is never sold.

Leaving again

Everything you log exports to CSV whenever you want it, at no cost, so the history you build here goes with you.

Questions about the free tracker.

Is Alpha Lifts really free?
Yes. The whole tracker is free: the plan builder, unlimited logging and history, the 172-exercise library, and all progress analytics. The only paid feature is the optional AI coach at $5 a month.
Is there a free trial, or does the free version expire?
No trial and no expiry. That is a contractual commitment rather than a marketing line: our terms say the free features stay free permanently, for everyone, and specifically exclude that promise from the clause that lets us change the terms.
Do the free features have limits, like a cap on workout history?
No. Logging and history are unlimited, with no cap on how far back you can look, and the progress analytics are not gated behind a tier. There is no counter anywhere in the app that stops you.
Is Alpha Lifts a free alternative to apps like Strong or Hevy?
The lifters testing it before launch use it that way, yes. Pricing and free-tier limits on other apps change often, so compare their current plans rather than trusting anyone’s summary of them. What we can be exact about is our own side, and we have put it in writing.
Can I bring my workout history from Strong or Hevy?
Not at launch. Importing from other apps is on the roadmap rather than in the launch build. What you log in Alpha Lifts exports to CSV whenever you want it.
What is the best free workout tracker?
For strength training, that is what Alpha Lifts was built for: a plan built around your goal and your equipment, unlimited logging, a 172-exercise library with a photo, a written how-to and a checked video on every movement, and progress analytics that read your numbers back to you. Judge it against the others on the features, not on the price.
How can a workout tracker be free?
The tracker costs little to run because your data lives on your device and only syncs when you sign in. The one feature with a real ongoing cost is the AI coach, and it’s the only thing we charge for.
