Privacy Policy

Alpha Lifts is a workout tracking app, operated by Optivane LLC, a limited liability company in the United States. This policy covers both the app and this website. The short version: your training data lives on your phone, copies to our server only when you sign in, and is never sold or used for advertising. A few companies help us run the service, and this page names every one of them and what they receive.

What stays on your phone

Everything you do in Alpha Lifts is stored on your phone first: your programs, logged workouts, body weight and measurements, nutrition check-ins, cardio, steps, and settings. You can use the whole tracker without an account, and then none of it leaves your phone except as described under notifications, exercise videos, and your phone’s own backups.

The Strength Standards card compares your lifts against published reference tables, which are split by sex, so it lets you choose the male or female table (male until you change it). That choice is saved as one of your settings. It is used only to pick the table, and it is not sent to the AI Coach.

Progress photos are stored only on your phone, in the app’s own storage. They are never uploaded to our server, never synced, never sent to the AI Coach, and never included in the backup files the app exports.

Account data and cloud sync

An account is optional. Creating one requires an email address and a password. We store the email address and a salted cryptographic hash of the password, never the password itself.

When you are signed in, the app keeps a copy of your training data on our server, hosted on Cloudflare, so it follows you to a new phone. That copy includes your programs and workout history, body weight, body measurements, nutrition check-ins, cardio sessions, daily step counts, your settings, the name you give the app, your answers to the plan-builder questions, and your AI Coach conversations. It never includes progress photos.

Settings → Reset App erases the app’s data on that phone, including progress photos. If you are signed in, the emptied app then syncs, which replaces the training data in your synced copy too; your account itself remains. To remove the account, delete it as described under data deletion.

Health Connect (Android)

On Android, you can connect Alpha Lifts to Health Connect to share fitness data with other apps. This is off by default and turns on only when you tap Connect in Settings and grant the permissions Health Connect asks for. When connected, Alpha Lifts:

  • Reads your body weight, daily step count, and exercise sessions (with their distance and calories burned), so your weight trend, steps, and cardio done in other apps appear in Alpha Lifts.
  • Writes the body weight you log, the strength workouts you complete, and the cardio sessions you record (with their distance and estimated calories), so other apps can see them.

What Alpha Lifts reads from Health Connect is saved into your Alpha Lifts history alongside what you log by hand. That means:

  • If you are signed in, those imported weights, step counts, and cardio sessions are part of the training data copied to our server (see above), so they follow your account to a new phone.
  • If you use the AI Coach, your most recent body weight and your recent cardio sessions, including ones imported from Health Connect, are included in what the Coach sees (see AI Coach). Step counts are not sent to the Coach.
  • If you are not signed in and do not use the Coach, Health Connect data stays on your phone.

Health Connect data is used only to provide these features to you. It is never sold, never used for advertising, never used to decide anything about you such as credit or insurance, and never shared with anyone except the service providers named on this page, which act on our instructions. Our use of data received from Health Connect follows the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

You can stop sharing at any time in Settings → Health Connect → Disconnect, or from Android’s Settings → Security & privacy → Health Connect. Disconnecting stops future reads and writes. Data already in your Alpha Lifts history stays there until you delete it, and what Health Connect itself keeps is managed in Health Connect.

AI Coach

The AI Coach is optional and needs an account. When you message the Coach, our server sends your message, together with the context it needs to answer, to Anthropic’s Claude API, which generates the reply. That context is:

  • the name you give the app and your answers to the plan-builder questions (training experience, goal, equipment, diet preference, and gym name if you entered one);
  • your current program, recent workouts, and training statistics;
  • your most recent body weight, and a summary of your recent cardio;
  • your recent conversation with the Coach (up to the last 20 messages).

Body measurements, nutrition check-ins, step counts, and progress photos are not sent. If you ask the AI to build a plan for you, or paste in a plan for it to read, those answers or that text are sent the same way.

Anthropic processes this to generate the reply and, under its commercial terms, does not use it to train its models. It may keep it for a limited period under its own policies, for example to detect abuse. We do not use your data to train AI models either. Your Coach conversations are saved in your app data and, when you are signed in, in the synced copy on our server.

Paying for the AI Coach

The AI Coach is sold as a subscription through Google Play. Google takes the payment; we never see or store your card or bank details.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. When you are signed in, the app links your purchases to your Alpha Lifts account ID (not your email address), and RevenueCat receives the purchase records Google provides: which subscription, its price and currency, your country, and the dates it started, renewed, ended, or was refunded. Our server stores only whether your subscription is active, when the current period ends, and when that status last changed.

Notifications and reminders

Rest-timer alerts and the basic daily reminder are scheduled on your phone and involve no server.

If you turn on cloud reminders, which only remind you on days you still owe a session, we store a push token for your phone (or a push subscription for your browser), your reminder time, and your time zone. To decide whether to remind you, our server looks at your synced training plan and history. On Android the reminder is delivered by Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging, which receives the push token and the reminder text. Turning cloud reminders off, or deleting your account, removes this.

You can create a link that shares a training plan. Anyone who has that link can open it and read the plan without signing in, so treat it like a public page and send it only to people you mean to send it to. The link, and the copy of the plan behind it, are stored on our server. Deleting your account removes every share link you have created.

Email

We send transactional email only: account verification, password resets, and the one confirmation email for pre-registration on this website. It is delivered by Resend, which receives your email address and the message. No marketing email, ever.

Exercise videos

Some exercises include a demonstration video from YouTube, played through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). A video loads only when you open it, and when it does, YouTube (Google) receives the information any website receives when you load a video from it, such as your IP address and device details, under Google’s privacy policy.

Identifiers, security, and analytics

The app creates a random installation identifier that is sent with AI Coach requests. Coach usage is counted per account so that one account cannot exhaust the service; those monthly counters expire automatically after about 40 days.

Our server sees your IP address when the app or website contacts it and uses it briefly to rate-limit abuse, such as repeated password guesses. We do not store it.

The app contains no third-party analytics, no crash-reporting service, no ad networks, and does not use your phone’s advertising ID. The website is covered separately below.

Your phone’s own backups

If you have turned on backup in your Android settings, Android may include Alpha Lifts’ app data, which can include progress photos, in the backup it stores in your Google account. That backup is made and held by Google under your Google account settings, not by us, and you can manage or delete it there.

This website

Two things happen on alpha-lifts.com, and nothing else does.

Pre-registration. If you enter your email address in a pre-registration form, we store that address, send one confirmation email straight away, and tell you once more, when the app opens. It goes to our own server on Cloudflare infrastructure. We will send you that launch email and then delete the address. If you would rather be removed before then, email support@alpha-lifts.com and you will be. It is never sold, and it is never used for marketing.

Analytics. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It sets no cookies at all and stores nothing in your browser: no cookies, no local storage, no session storage. There are no advertising or tracking scripts, and no other third-party service receives anything when you visit.

Age

Alpha Lifts is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, or under the age at which you can agree to this policy yourself where you live (in some countries that is 16), you need a parent or guardian’s permission to create an account or use the AI Coach, and they should read this policy with you.

Alpha Lifts is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, or a teenager has done so without the permission they need, email support@alpha-lifts.com and the account and its data will be deleted.

Who helps us run Alpha Lifts

We never sell your data, and we never share it for advertising. We share it only with these service providers, each of which handles it to run Alpha Lifts for you and not for its own purposes:

  • Cloudflare: hosts our server, database, and this website.
  • Anthropic: generates AI Coach replies (see AI Coach).
  • Google: Google Play payments, Firebase Cloud Messaging for cloud reminders, and YouTube for exercise videos.
  • RevenueCat: manages AI Coach subscriptions.
  • Resend: delivers transactional email.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a person, and if the business is ever sold, this policy would continue to apply to your data.

How long we keep things

Your synced training data, Coach conversations included, stays on our server until you delete your account. Data on your phone stays until you delete it in the app, delete your account, or uninstall the app. Cloud reminder registrations last until you turn reminders off or delete your account. Coach usage counters expire after about 40 days. Pre-registration email addresses are deleted once the launch email has been sent. Subscription records are kept by Google and RevenueCat for as long as they need them for billing, tax, and accounting.

Where your data is processed

Optivane LLC is a United States company, and the providers listed above may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. If you are outside the United States, your data will be handled there. Where the law requires it, we rely on our providers’ standard data-protection terms for those transfers.

Your data, and your rights

You can see and change everything the app holds about you from inside the app, export your full training history to CSV whenever you like, and delete everything as described below. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, or to complain to your local data-protection authority. For anything the app does not let you do yourself, email support@alpha-lifts.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Data deletion

You can delete your account and its data yourself at any time: open Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm with your password. That permanently removes from our server your account, your synced training data (including anything imported from Health Connect and your Coach conversations), your cloud reminder registrations, and your plan share links, and it clears the app’s data on that phone, including progress photos.

A few things are not removed by deleting your account:

  • Subscription records kept by Google Play and RevenueCat. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription either; cancel it in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions.
  • Data in Health Connect that Alpha Lifts wrote there, and your phone’s Android backups. Both are managed on your phone and in your Google account.
  • Coach usage counters, which expire on their own after about 40 days.

If you can no longer sign in, email support@alpha-lifts.com from the address on the account and it will be deleted promptly.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above changes with it. If a change materially affects how your data is handled, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
