Privacy Policy

Alpha Lifts is a workout tracking app, operated by Optivane LLC, a limited liability company in the United States. This policy covers both the app and this website. The short version: your training data lives on your device, syncs to our server only when you sign in, and is never sold or shared with advertisers.

Data stored on your device

Your workout programs, logged sessions, body weight and measurements, nutrition check-ins, settings, and progress photos are stored locally on your device. Progress photos never leave your device; they are not included in backups or cloud sync.

Account data and cloud sync

Creating an account requires an email address and password. Passwords are stored only as salted cryptographic hashes. When you are signed in, your training data (programs, workout history, and settings, but not photos) syncs to our server, hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure, so it follows you across devices. Deleting the app’s data from Settings (“Reset App”) also erases the synced cloud copy.

You can create a link that shares a training plan. Anyone who has that link can open it and read the plan without signing in, so treat it like a public page and send it only to people you mean to send it to. The link, and the copy of the plan behind it, are stored on our server. Deleting your account removes every share link you have created.

AI Coach

If you use the AI Coach, a summary of your training context (your program, recent sessions, aggregate stats, and, if you log them, body weight and nutrition summaries) is sent with your messages to our server, which forwards them to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate responses. This data is used only to answer you; conversations are stored in your own app data, not used to train models.

Paying for the AI Coach

The AI Coach is not chargeable yet, and no payment information is collected today. Before that changes, this policy will be updated to describe how payment is handled and by whom.

Email

We send transactional email only (account verification and password reset), delivered via Resend. No marketing email, ever.

Notifications

Rest-timer alerts and workout reminders are generated on your device. If you enable cloud reminders on the web app, a push subscription for your browser is stored server-side solely to deliver those reminders.

Health Connect (Android)

On Android, you can optionally connect Alpha Lifts to Health Connect to sync fitness data between apps. This is off by default and only turns on when you tap Connect in Settings and grant the permissions Health Connect asks for. When connected, Alpha Lifts:

Reads your body weight, daily step count, and cardio exercise sessions (including their distance and calories), so your weight trend, steps, and cardio done in other apps appear in Alpha Lifts.
Writes the body weight you log, the strength workouts you complete, and the cardio sessions you record (with their distance and estimated calories), so other apps can see them.

This data is exchanged only between Alpha Lifts and Health Connect on your device. Alpha Lifts does not transmit your Health Connect data to our servers or any third party, and it is never used for advertising. Your logged body weight and cardio sessions sync to your account as part of your training data (see above); step counts are stored on your device. You can revoke Alpha Lifts’ access at any time in Settings → Health Connect → Disconnect in the app, or from Android’s Settings → Security & privacy → Health Connect, and you control what Health Connect retains from within Health Connect itself.

Identifiers and analytics

The app generates a random device identifier used only to meter AI Coach usage. The app contains no third-party analytics, ad networks, or trackers of any kind. The website is covered separately below.

This website

Two things happen on alpha-lifts.com, and nothing else does.

Pre-registration. If you enter your email address in a pre-registration form, we store that address so we can tell you once, when the app opens. It goes to our own server on Cloudflare infrastructure. We will send you that one email and then delete the address. If you would rather be removed before then, email support@alpha-lifts.com and you will be. It is never sold, and it is never used for marketing.

Analytics. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It sets no cookies at all and stores nothing in your browser: no cookies, no local storage, no session storage. There are no advertising or tracking scripts, and no other third-party service receives anything when you visit.

Age

Alpha Lifts is for people aged 16 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, email support@alpha-lifts.com and it will be removed.

How long we keep things

Your training data stays until you delete it, either by deleting your account or by using Reset App. Pre-registration email addresses are deleted once the launch email has been sent. Workout reminder subscriptions last until you turn reminders off or delete your account. Progress photos are only ever on your device, so they last exactly as long as you keep them there.

Where your data is processed

Our server runs on Cloudflare infrastructure, and AI Coach messages are forwarded to Anthropic’s Claude API. Optivane LLC is a United States company and both providers may process data in the United States, so if you are outside the United States your data will be handled there.

Your data, and getting it back

You can read and change everything the app holds about you from inside the app. You can export your full training history to CSV whenever you like, which is a file you own and can take anywhere, and you can delete everything as described below. If you want something that CSV export does not cover, or you need to correct something you cannot reach in the app, email support@alpha-lifts.com.

Data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data yourself at any time: open Settings → Account → Delete account, confirm with your password, and your account, synced training data, workout reminder subscriptions, and plan share links are permanently removed from our servers, along with the data on that device. You can also erase local and synced training data without deleting the account via Settings → Reset App. If you can no longer sign in, contact support@alpha-lifts.com and your account will be removed promptly.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above changes with it. If a change materially affects how your data is handled, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
